This short hop connects Katapola, Amorgos's main harbour on the island's sheltered south coast, with the tiny anchorage on Iraklia, the smallest and quietest of the Small Cyclades. Katapola itself is a working port town wrapped around a curving bay, with tavernas along the water and hills rising steeply behind -- it's also where the bigger Piraeus-bound ferries call, so you'll likely pass through it at some point on an Amorgos trip regardless. Iraklia, by contrast, has no real town to speak of: the boat ties up by a scatter of rooms and a couple of tavernas, and that's about it.
Sailings on this crossing are modest year-round rather than swelling dramatically in high summer -- expect a single daily service to be the norm through the season, thinning further once the shoulder months arrive and operators trim back their timetables.
