Koufonisi and Milos sit at opposite ends of the Cyclades, and the ferry between them covers a fair stretch of open Aegean rather than hopping between neighbours. There's no land in view for much of the crossing, so it's worth checking the forecast if you're prone to seasickness -- this isn't a sheltered inter-island hop. Board at Koufonisi's small harbour, where the village is close enough to walk to with a bag, and disembark at Milos's port at Adamantas, a few kilometres from the main town of Plaka.
