This is one of the shortest sea crossings between Greece and Turkey, linking the resort port of Kusadasi with the small harbour of Pythagorio on Samos. Rather than open Aegean water, the boat cuts across the narrow strait that separates Samos from the Turkish mainland, so you are never far from land on either side and the ride is generally calm. Because both ends are international ports, you'll clear passport control before boarding and again on arrival, so allow a little extra time compared with a domestic Greek ferry.
