The Mykonos to Syros ferry is one of the more satisfying short hops in the Cyclades. You leave behind the crowds and glamour of Mykonos and arrive, roughly an hour later, in Ermoupoli -- a proper Greek city with a grand neoclassical waterfront, real neighbourhood life, and none of the tourist-island theatre. The two islands are near neighbours geographically, yet feel worlds apart in character, which is exactly what makes this crossing worth doing.
Sailings run daily from March through to November. Frequency builds steadily through spring: expect one or two departures a day in March, rising to three or four through the summer peak. Even into October you will generally find three options a day, giving you real flexibility over when you travel.
